SALEROOM ANNOUNCEMENT - More of Albert Pierrepoint's Personal ephemera, including execution orders, have come to light and will be sold in August.

Albert Pierrepoint (30 March 1905 - 10 July 1992), Britain's Lead Executioner for His/Her Majesty's Prison Service, conducting executions throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and the Commonwealth over his 25 year career (1932-1956), this lot contains Albert Pierrepoint's Execution Pocket Notebooks, one partially filled, dated from 15th December 1932 - 27th July 1955, covering every execution that he conducted, making notes in ink of age, height, weight and working out the drop to achieve the quickest death, also making notes the towns where the execution took place, and who conducted them. Pierrepoint executed some of the most famous criminals of WWII and the 20th Century, including Nurse Dorothea Nancy Waddingham (Unlicenced Nursing Home, Poisoning Patients, 1936), Carl Meier and Jose Waldeburg (German Spies, 1940), Werner Henrich Walti (aka Robert Petter) and Karl Theodore Drucke (aka Francois de Deeker) (German Spies, 1941), Karel Richard Richter (aka Fred Snyder)(German Spy, 1941), Gordon Frederick Cummins (Blackout Killer/Wartime Ripper, 1942), Alphonse Louis Eugene Timmerman and Jose Estella Key (Spies, 1942), Duncan Alexander Croall Scott-Ford (Treachery,1942), August Sangret (Murder, case known as the 'Wigwam Murder', 1943), Oswald John Job (British Spy, 1944), John Amery (Treason, 1945), the infamous William Joyce (aka Lord Haw-Haw) (Treason, 1946), Theodore William John Schurch (Treason, 1946), John George Haigh (The Acid Bath Murderer, 1949), Timothy John Evans (Wrongly Accused, crimes later attributed to John Christie, 1950), Derek Bentley (High Profile Murder, Killed a Police Officer, 1953), John Reginald Halliday Christie (The Rillington Place Strangler, 1953) and Ruth Ellis (Murder, the last female to be executed in Britain, 1955), plus over 200 Germans for various War Crimes, also sold with these notebooks are three of Albert Pierrepoint's Driving Licences (5) (this lot is being sold by Albert Pierrepoint's God Daughter)
