A 19th Century British School portrait of an army officer, said to be a portrait of a soldier in the 43rd Bengal Native Infantry. He wears the Medal for the First Afghan War of 1842. Possibly a member of the Gold or Cundell families and traditionally referred to as "The Surgeon". Oil on canvas. Contained within a very fine 19th Century frame with laurel leaf and berry moulding. 63 cm by 56 cm (framed)
