Welsh Regiment, WWI British War and Victory Medals, comprising of a Duo and a Trio, awarded to 50533 Private George Reed Woolmer, conducting four tours and being wounded three times, 1st tour 1916 with the 2nd Battalion Welsh Regiment, seeing action in the Battles of Albert, Contalmansion, High Wood and Mametz Wood, while in High Wood admitted to 45 CCS with Trench Foot returning to England where he spent 77 days in hospital, 2nd Tour of Duty 1917, re-joined 17th Battalion, in Croisiles near Boullencourt, Woolmer was treated for Gas Poisoning from the Germans, also returning to England on board 'Princess Elizabeth', 3rd Tour, transferred to 11th Battalion Cheshire Regiment, new service number 53442, attended 76 Field Ambulance with Tuberculosis in his left lung, returning to England on 20 April, 4th Tour, sailed from Southampton and landing in Rouen, joining 11th Battalion Cheshire Regiment, posted to 192 Labour Company, demobbed 21st February 1919, plus WWI British Trio, awarded to 445 Private Ivor Griffith, 4th Battalion, landing on C Beach, they came under heavy Turkish fire, during the counter attacks on Scimitar Hill, at the Battle of Sari Blair the Welsh suffered heavy casualties, due to the lack of fresh water Griffith was taken ill with dysentery, evacuated from Gallipoli on board the Hospital ship R.M.S Franconia, he should have been taken to Malta, as large number of casualties were anticipated, however the ship sailed to Gibraltar, Griffith died at sea September 1915, aged 29, he is buried ashore at North Front Cemetery, Gibraltar, AF the naming around the Victory medal has been rubbed off, possibly not the original medal for the group
