Sold for £1,800
Estimated at £2,000 - £3,000

A fine and rare early George I silver tea pot possibly by Pierre Platel, the bullet shaped spherical pot having engraved family crest to one side and with applied carved wooden fruit wood handle and finial, some solder pooling to the hinge from an old repair, nicely hallmarked to the base and below lid for Britannia Standard London 1716-17, with PL below cross and crown. Overall condition is good but there is a notable dent above the engraved armorial and several other small dents along with typical wear for its age, the is a patch on the upper side of the spout and where the spout meets the pot where a possible repair has taken place, the lid does move slightly and the handle is nice and tight in its mounts.
