A mid 19th century Oberammergau wooden figure of a nun with hidden chapel in robes, with sprung head, headscarf, hands held together praying, the carved black robe with white collar and trim, two painted crucifixes on white ribbons handing from waist, the torso is removed from the lower half which opens to reveal colourful interior of a chapel with crucifix and praying nun, inked 19s to each section of base —5 ½in.
