A rare Alpha Farnell Babar the Elephant 1930s, with dark grey mohair head and hands, clear and black glass eyes with brown painted backs, open red velvet mouth, white felt tusks, swivel head, jointed limbs with cloth body, original felt green suit, white felt shirt front, cuffs and spats, black oil-cloth shoes, grey brushed cotton hand pads and shoe soles and blue and white woven label on foot —17in. (43cm.) high (mohair slightly sparse, suit a little faded and head needs to be reattached to neck joint, as it’s been attached on top of the joint with a card disc) - French Babar was written by Jean de Brunhoff in 1931
