A 1920s German clockwork Teddy Bear violinist, with golden artificial silk plush, deep orange and black glass eyes, black painted metal pin-head nose, wooden hands, violin and bow, cast metal feet and body housing clockwork mechanism —8in. (20cm.) high (one leg leg loose and little discoloured) - purchased from Gyles Brandreth’s Stratford upon Avon Teddy Bear Museum, Christie’s South Kensington auction, lot 168 - according to Gyles Brandreth the last person to wind him up was Yehudi Menuhin
